Bio:
Our very affectionate Bare-Nosed Wombat, Pancake, was orphaned in 2017 as a result of a tragic car accident. She was fortunate enough to arrive at our sanctuary for some much needed care and love, which she received in abundance! As a result of trauma from being orphaned, she’s had a few bumps in the road to recovery and therefore has spent a significant amount of time being handled and treated. She’s grown to be a very loving, playful and friendly sub-adult, however is much smaller in stature than her wild counterparts. For these reasons, she is not a suitable candidate for release and will be staying in our care for the duration of her life. Pancake’s gentle nature has made her a highlight on many of our tours. When she was younger, she loved nothing more than a good snuggle with her keepers.
Pancake is now nearly seven years old and has started showing signs of being a proper wombat. She spends a lot of time underground, and has recendly decided she is too old for cuddles. She may not be a star of our Joey Encounters anymore, but Pancake can still be seen in her enclosure when she’s up for a sunbake or looking for food.
